    CLEAA Legal Plan

    Cost to Member: “0”
    Legal Expense Limit: “NO LIMIT”

    CLEAA members are protected by its no-cost, no-limit Legal Protection Plan, which covers the following:

    • Member involved shooting
    • In-custody death or life-threatening injury
    • Accident while in the performance of duty that results in a life-threatening injury or death to others
    • Involuntary termination from employment
    • Demotion
    • Criminal charges or indictments arising out of the member’s official performance of duty
    • Suspensions to the extent that the prevailing agency policy, procedures or rules provide for a formal administrative hearing
    • Other disciplinary actions: CLEAA grievance-trained representative will assist members through internal agency process to ensure compliance with policy and procedure
    • Civil actions arising out of the member’s official performance of duty if representation is not provided by employer.

    Members are entitled, but not limited to the above benefits under the CLEAA Legal Assistance Plan.

    Workplace Grievance Training

    Each association will have grievance representatives who are familiar with member agency policies and procedures.

    Political Representation

    CLEAA assists its members and affiliated chapters in how to become a strong political force in their community and state through political action committees and lobbying.

    CLEAA Scholarship

    Approved in the fall of 2013, the $5,000.00 CLEAA Scholarship was developed in partnership with the 100 Club of Arizona. Children and grandchildren of CLEAA members are eligible. If a member in good standing at the time of disability or death then children and grandchildren are also eligible. The first annual CLEAA scholarship opened in January 2014. The scholarship opens every January and information is posted on the 100 Club website.  For the 2017 Scholarship year, seven CLEAA families received awards under the 100 Club!

    CLEAA contributes $2,500.00 to the award and is matched by a 100 Club award to total the $5,000.00 scholarship.

    Selection criteria will be posted on the 100 Club website. All decisions of the 100 Club Scholarship Committee are final.

    America’s 911 Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

    The purpose of America’s 911 Foundation is to never forget September 11, 2001.  They fund a college scholarship program for children of Active First Responders (EMS, FIRE, POLICE) who each day place their lives on the line.  Retired/deceased are not eligible for this opportunity.

    Criteria:  1. Any student whose parent is an Active Duty First Responder, either paid or volunteer.  2. List parent’s name, department, job title and their supervisor’s name.  3. Admissions to an accredited College or University.  4. Two letters of reference from current school faculty and/or Community leader, non-related.  5. Financial need can be a component of this scholarship.  6. Write an essay (250-500 words).  The subject:  What makes someone want to be a First Responder?

    Award Amount: $2,000

    Awards Available:  15

    Deadline:  March 19, 2018
