Mike is a native New Yorker who has settled in Arizona with his wife and four sons. After graduating from law school he worked for the law firm of O’Connor, Cavanagh in Phoenix and then moved to Tucson to join the firm of Piccarreta and Davis. At that point Mike began doing all of the AZCOPS work in Southern Arizona representing members in administrative hearings and responding to critical incidents. Mike also handled all of the AZCOPS criminal matters statewide. Mike became a member with this firm which was then renamed Piccarreta, Davis, and Storie. Several years ago Mike left the firm to establish his own law office and in 2010 Mike became Lead Legal Counsel for AZCOPS. Mike resigned from AZCOPS in March, 2012 and has since assumed the Lead Legal Counsel position for CLEAA. Mike has responded to over 300 critical incidents in his representation of officers. He has also represented probation and law enforcement officers all over the State in administrative disciplinary appeal hearings. He has also spoken on critical incident and use of force issues at various training seminars and Universities.
